Portrait of Alice Lowe

‘Having done Prevenge it’s sort of like people going, “Well it still could have been a fluke, couldn’t it? Was it any good? Maybe the next one will be rubbish.” People are waiting for women directors to slip up. Whereas when a male director makes a dud it’s like, ”Oh well, I’m really excited about what he’s going to do next!”‘

Alice Lowe is an English director, screenwriter and actor. She has co-written and starred in TV shows and feature films including ‘The Mighty Boosh’ and Ben Wheatley’s ‘Sightseers’. Last year, when Lowe was pregnant, she directed, wrote and starred in ‘Prevenge’, a film about a pregnant woman on a killing spree.
