Another Gaze is seeking submissions for its second print issue, to be released this autumn. We are an open-access journal, founded 2016, as a sustained and evolving forum for discussion around women and the moving image. Our first issue – distributed worldwide – contains essays, reviews, fragments and interviews on narrative, documentary and experimental film work, and covered women as filmmakers, spectators and filmic subjects.
We are open to work on any subject across a range of formats, from academics, journalists, students and young writers. We are particularly interested in the following for our second issue:
• motherhood, bad mothers
• anthropocene (modernity, climate change)
• spectatorship (especially in non-western culture)
• artist’s moving image and documentary film
• queer and trans* bodies on film
• the ‘difficult woman’, & ‘hysteria’
• paraphernalia around film / filmic reception – fandom, design, posters
We are able to pay a small fee for successful submissions. Please send pitch along with previous writing samples (PDF or Word document) to editorial at another gaze dot com by midnight GMT, June 19th.
